Sample Icons

DSicons.com is the brainchild of the brilliant and oft-distracted designers of Firewheel Design and IconBuffet. Though we spend most of our time working on business-y things like designing icons and interfaces for technology and software companies, all work and no play makes John a dull boy. Actually, there are two Johns who work here... it also makes Josh, Keegan, Brian, and Scott dull as well.

Lately we've found ourselves pimping out our Karts on Mario Kart DS, and we thought to ourselves, "Selves, why don't we build a website where we can share our killer DS icons with the rest of the world? We could get famous in Japan!" And ourselves said, "You know, that's a really swell idea!" So here it is.

DSicons.com is home to a swizzeet collection of icon templates for games on your Nintendo DS. We design icons primarily for Mario Kart DS, but we'll add icons for other games as well as we see fit. We do our best to keep fresh icons rolling into the collection on a daily basis. Not only can you pilfer our collection blog-style, we have a couple other ways we can take your money—D'oh! I mean, other ways that allow you to support our efforts: First, we sell exclusive collections of icons and templates, not available elsewhere on the site, for the low, low, low price of $5. Next, we also do custom DS icons for you cool cats with disposable income. At 25 to 35 bucks, it's an easy way to pimp your kart out all one-of-a-kind and stuff. Hey, it's cheaper than pimping a real car, and certainly a whole heckuva lot less expensive than encrusting your DS in Swarovski crystal. Yes, we're talking to you Ms. Lohan.

So there you have it. That's the schpiel. Buy our collections and order a custom icon (or three). You'll be glad you did. And you're friends will envy you. Either that, or they'll shake their heads in dismay at your vanity.

And no, we don't work for Nintendo. Nor is this site affiliated in any way with Nintendo. They don't pay us anything. Although we wish they would send us free stuff.

Corporate Work (for Really Rich Folks)

Like we mentioned previously, DSicons.com is run by the über-talented fellas over at Firewheel Design. In addition to blowing our time playing video games, we also do a ton of high quality icon and UI design for companies around the globe. You'll find our work gracing popular software packages, slick MP3 players, a plethora of websites, and top-secret government projects. No really, we kid you not.

If you'd like to hire us to help you spiff up your website, dress down your UI, or attempt to take over the world, we might just be your guys. Check out our website, our online stock icon store, or drop us a line at artists [at] dsicons [dot] com.

FAQs

How do I get these icons onto my Nintendo DS?
This is the fun part... you get to draw them yourself! We provide oversized templates and instructions with each of our icons to show you how to recreate your icon in all of its glory with your own two thumbs. It's really not that hard, and with a little practice you'll find yourself drawing these icons on your Nintendo DS in minutes.
What games support icons on the Nintendo DS?
While we're sure the list will continue to grow, Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing are the two popular ones we tend to focus on here. We'll add to our list as new games become available.
Can I use these icons on my website?
Sure thing. Feel free to use them howrever. We simply ask that YOU DO NOT RESELL THEM, archive them, or redistribute them as a group.
Can you draw me the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, or Munch's Scream in 32x32 pixels for my Nintendo DS?
Probably not. Mario only gave us 15 basic colors to work with in a VERY SMALL SPACE, so temper your expectations a bit. If DaVinci couldn't paint it in 32x32 pixels, we probably can't either.
I have a question about my order. Who should I contact?
Please send an email to artists [at] dsicons [dot] com. We'll do our best to get back with you quickly.
What if I don't like the custom icon you drew for me? Can I get a refund?
We're sorry, but do the very subjective nature of art in general, and the fact that we do spend a good bit of time on every custom icon we create, we cannot offer refunds, returns, revisions, or exchanges for any reason whatsoever. Thanks for understanding.
